Giving resellers adaptable campaign materials
Build reseller campaign kits with editable local fields, controlled product claims, clear rights and an update process partners can follow.
Give resellers a campaign kit they can tailor to their customers while keeping product claims accurate. Build it as a brief for one offer and audience, with channel-ready material and clear rules on what the partner may change.
Start with the job the campaign must do
Name the customer problem, offer, intended audience and next step for a buyer. Provide a contact for product questions. Before making files, ask partners which channels they use. A proposal slide may suit an account-led reseller more than a set of social posts.
Keep the kit small enough to navigate. Depending on the channel, it might include a one-page explanation, approved copy, an editable layout and a landing-page outline. An asset belongs if a partner can use it for this campaign, not because it already sits in the supplier’s library.
Show what is editable
Mark fields beside the files or in a short guide. The following controls are examples; the supplier and reseller must agree the permissions that apply to their materials.
Field / Suggested treatment
- Reseller contact and service details
- Editable by the reseller; check the finished details
- Customer example
- Replace with an accurate example the reseller can support
- Product capability or limitation
- Use verified wording or request review
- Supplier logo or partner badge
- Follow the agreed usage terms
- Price or promotional term
- Confirm against the current offer before release
Australian Government IP guidance identifies trade marks as protecting logos and other branding, and copyright as protecting art, writing, music, film and computer programs. State which assets the partner may use, where and for how long.
Editable vs. Restricted Fields in Campaign Kits
- Reseller contact and service details
- Editable by reseller; must be checked before use
- Customer example
- Replace with an accurate, supportable example
- Product capability or limitation
- Use verified wording or request review
- Supplier logo or partner badge
- Follow agreed usage terms
- Price or promotional term
- Confirm against current offer before release
Keep qualifications with the claim
Put an important condition in the reusable copy block and in the final layout where a buyer can see it. If an offer requires a particular account type, that condition should appear with the offer. The ACCC says it can require businesses to back up claims they make about their products or services.
An approved email template does not itself establish whether a partner may contact a list. Check the applicable requirements before sending marketing email or text.
Maintain the kit after release
Give each asset an owner, version and review date. Keep current files easy to find and remove superseded versions from the normal download path.
When an offer changes, tell partners which claim or graphic needs replacing, including in material they have already saved or published.
Ask a reseller to adapt the kit for a realistic customer conversation before distributing it widely. Review the result for clarity, accurate role descriptions and unsupported claims. Use the feedback to improve the files and the editing instructions.
